Garden Design Suited to Your Unique Personal Style
Among the many different garden styles in the world, my aim as a garden designer is to appreciate all their qualities by mixing them. Every garden is a palette to represent their owners tastes and needs. Modern or classical, a garden is very successful whether focused on only one type of garden style, or with mixed elements.
- Traditional Style French Gardens
The gardens of France influenced garden making all through out Europe. The classical elements of the French garden landscape include; formal avenues of Lime trees, symmetrical flower beds (parterres), rectangular lawn, tunnel of Roses, cone shaped or topiary clipped shrubs, and palmettes of fruit trees.
- Traditional Style English Gardens
The staple elements of the classical English garden are in many ways opposite of the French. The English garden style is based on irregular planting of trees, shrubs, perennials/annuals, free circulation, rolling lawns, an informally shaped pond or lake, and a Chinese influenced temple on top of a hill or cliff serving as the main focal point.
- Traditional Style Japanese Gardens
One of the goals of the Japanese gardens is to incorporate their outside space with their interiors based on simplicity, and harmony. They also aim to create an illusion of a larger landscape in a small space based on their natural rocky landscape. There are several key elements of the Japanese garden; rocks, red bridge, tea house, religious sculpture, Azaleas, Maples, Rhododendrons, and numerous kinds of water features for visual and auditory effects.
- Modern Contemporary Style
New and contemporary garden style traditionally complimented modern architecture, but now not always. In our ever changing fast paced world, people feel free to create a contemporary garden now matter what period their home is from. Whether you have a traditional or modern home, you can create a modern garden as long as it follows basic contemporary principles that extenuate the home with clean lines, a focus on materials, and bold but simple planting. The goal is to take the materials, colors, and textures from inside the home and extend them to your outdoor space. This is accomplished by sculpture, water features, and a strong focus on hard scape materials such as your deck, fence, or arbor.

Maintaining a Healthy and Vibrant Garden All Year Long
The amount of maintenance your garden needs depends on each gardens demands. Grasses, trees, and shrubs always need to be pruned and fertilized in order to promote continuous bloom. My goal as a designer/gardener is to maintain a gardens vitality by promoting healthy plant life, which will give back to the earth and it's owner. The success of each garden depends entirely on it's soil. I promote healthy soil by using mulch that gives back to the soil instead of taking away from it.
Each garden has a season that it looks its best, we can extend this period by seasonal planting. The design for seasonal color depends on what plants do best during specific times of year. For seasonal color annuals and perennials are used that have been time tested to provide seasonal interest/color for your gardens specific site conditions.
For the best seasonal color the following is recommended:
- Early Spring Planting (March/April)
- Summer Planting (May)
- Fall Planting (September/October)
- Winter Displays (November/December)
