About Us

Susan Pollock Designs was founded to provide professional garden services with a personal touch for urban clients in New York City. Landscape and Garden Design has always been a passion for Susan. Growing up in Manhattan Susan looked forward to spending weekends at her family’s country home in upstate New York where she devoted her time tending to the garden. Her love of plants and nature led her to pursue her education in Botany, Garden Design and Landscape Architecture.

Susan received her BA from Sarah Lawrence College where she studied botany, visual arts, and psychology. After she graduated she went to Italy where she was introduced to European design, then furthered her studies with the National Superior School of Landscape and Garden Design at Versailles, France focusing on European design and history. She completed her formal education in landscape architecture with the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Susan began her career practicing landscape design at the New York Botanical Gardens, while working as a gardener at one of New York City’s top landscape architecture firms. Susan then moved to France for an opportunity to design and implement gardens for residential clients where she was employed as a garden designer and artist in Paris where she did drawings in the perspective for client presentations. After eight years designing and tending to gardens in France Susan returned to New York City and teamed up with top experts in design and urban landscape architecture and seasoned gardening professionals to create Susan Pollock Designs.

Garden Lecture

Susan Pollock gave a Historical Lecture to ‘The Women’s Gardeners Club’ in Ridgewood, New Jersey on February 22nd 2017. The theme of the lecture was about how plants have traveled through time from ancient Egypt until the 19th century England. The lecture covered our understanding of how plants have evolved through our history, and their impact on the landscape, and culture.

Landscape and Gardening

Susan Pollock Designs installed the entrance for the Holiday Show House in 2019. The Holiday show House is a celebration of interior design, life, beauty and optimism in support of breast cancer research.
